architectural applications. It offers an excellent balance of mechanical properties, extrudability,

and cost efficiency, making it a popular alternative to 6061 for many industrial uses.

Composition: Mg (0.4-0.6%), Si (0.6-0.9%) with Cr/Cu additions

Mechanical Properties (T6 temper):

• Tensile strength: 260-310 MPa

• Yield strength: ≥240 MPa

• Elongation: ≥8%

• Hardness: ~95 HB

Available Tempers

T5: Artificially aged (good strength, lower cost)

T6: Solution heat treated + aged (peak strength)

O: Annealed (maximum formability)
