5000 series AA5754 Aluminium Plate with Excellent Corrosion Resistance
5754 is an aluminium alloy with magnesium as the primary alloying element. It has
good formability when in the fully soft, annealed temper and can be work-hardened
to very high strength levels.
The material EN AW-5754 shows high mechanical properties among the non-heat tre
-atable aluminium alloys and shows a very good atmospheric and seawater corrosion
resistance. The material has a good weldability and is used for example in marine and
offshore applications. The material EN AW-5754 is not heat treatable and as anodizing
quality it is suitable for decorative anodizing.
the Typical Applications of 5754 Aluminium
1. Marine & Offshore Engineering
- Hull panels, decks, bulkheads (typically 3–12mm thick) due to seawater corrosion resistance.
2. Chemical Equipment
- Storage tanks, pipelines, reactor linings (2–8mm thick) for acid/alkali resistance.
3. Transportation
- Automotive fuel tanks, truck bodies (1.5–6mm thick) for lightweight and corrosion resistance.
- Subway/train interior panels (1–4mm thick) with fireproof requirements.
4. Architectural Decoration
- Curtain walls, roofing (2–5mm thick), often with (spray coating) or anodizing.
5. Pressure Vessels
- Medium-thick plates (6–25mm) welded for LNG tanks and cryogenic equipment.
Selection Considerations
Corrosion Resistance: The Mg content (2.6–3.6%) makes 5754 ideal for humid/corrosive
environments, but avoid direct contact with copper/iron to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Weldability: Suitable for TIG/MIG welding (recommended filler: 5356).
Alternatives: For higher strength, consider 5083; for lower cost (non-critical corrosion
resistance), 5052 is an option.

We use the Wolrd Advanced Equipments for your Aluminium Alloy Material
• All the melting and holding furnaces are supplied by GAUTSCHI (Switzerland) Company.
they improve the quality of Aluminum alloy slab which can guarantee Aluminium alloy
products with high-performance.
• 1+1+4 hot rolling mills and 1+5 hot rolling mills from SMS Group (Germany). All the hot
finishing rolling mills adopt the CVC flatness control technology, which can produce hot-rolled
coils and sheets with ideal flatness.
• 6 sets of cold rolling mills from SMS Group (Germany). All these mills are applied with SMS
patent 6-High CVC technology and are the most advanced cold rolling mills in the world currently.
