3xxx series alloy material 3004 aluminum coil
3004 aluminum is a medium-strength, non-heat-treatable alloy primarily composed of manganese (Mn)
and magnesium (Mg). It offers better strength than pure aluminum (e.g., 1100) while maintaining good
formability,weldability, and corrosion resistance.
Mechanical Properties (Typical)

✅ Stronger than 1100/3003 (due to Mg addition).
✅ Good formability (can be deep drawn, spun, or stamped).
✅ Weldable (TIG, MIG, resistance welding).
✅ Corrosion-resistant (suitable for humid/coastal environments).
✅ Non-heat-treatable (strengthened by cold working only).
Limitations
❌ Not as strong as heat-treatable alloys (e.g., 6061).
❌ Lower fatigue resistance compared to 5000/6000 series.
❌ Poor machinability (gummy—requires lubricants/special tooling).
Common Applications
Beverage Cans: Body stock (often alloyed with 3104 for canmaking).
Roofing & Gutters: Due to corrosion resistance.
Sheet Metal Work: Signs, kitchenware, storage tanks.
Automotive: Fuel tanks, trim, decorative parts.
