PPGI/PPGL (prepainted galvanized steel/prepainted galvalume steel) is a type of coated steel that combines the superior durability of galvanized steel with excellent corrosive resistance. It is made of cold rolled steel, hot dipped galvanized steel, electro-galvanized steel, and hot-dipped galvalume steel as the base material. The coating used to provide additional protection includes polyester, silicon modified polyester, polyvinylidene fluoride, high-durability polyester, among others. This coating helps to prolong the lifespan and improve the anti-corrosive properties of the material.
The main advantage lies in its ultra strong corrosion resistance, which is three times that of the galvanized steel sheet. This mainly results from the fact that the density of 55% aluminum is smaller than that of zinc and the area of the galvalume steel sheet is 3% or even larger than that of galvanized steel sheet with the same weight and thickness of the plating layer.
In addition, color coated steel sheet has more even and ideal quality of coating than single spraying or brushing on the surface of formed metal because it goes through the processes of chemical pretreatment, preliminary coating and fine coating.
